Mooncake Festival Celebration

An antique of the past from China

My father-in-law got this during his China tour last year. This set is believed to have been used by the emperors in China aged ago. On that night, we all pampered ourselves with the grape wine made by my mother-in-law. Of course, have to store the wine for some time to ensure its taste. Those grapes used were bought from China.

These are another types of wine cups from China. These are called, "Shimmering Green Cup" ~ 夜光杯 . Funny name ya! Can you see the colour of it? When you see it in the dark, it is like shining. FIL told me that these cups are made of some kind of stone, and they are hard to be broken. Have you heard of this poem?

葡萄美酒夜光杯，
欲饮琵琶马上催。
醉卧沙场君莫笑，
方来征战几人回？

After dinner at home, we laid the table for god serving ceremony on that night to celebrate the festival. Mostly were fruits. I did buy a special homemade agar-agar mooncake to serve the god and goddess.

Does it look nice? It is called "七星伴月" ~ translated......moon accompanied by seven stars! The filling was made by dragonfruit. I bought this from a parent of my tuition centre. Only cost me RM18 for this.

I am thinking of a new design for my new house. I always feel that to build an outdoor kitchen at home will keep the indoor environment cleaner and fresher. It may then make my life easier. I need not mop the floor always or wiping the glass windows everyday to remove the oily stains! Besides, the quality of the outdoor kitchen cabinets can last for lifetime. A very special day for all Chinese! There are all kinds of mooncakes in the market. I personally like Shanghai mooncake. Haven't got time to snap a few photos of it. Just show one of the specialties nowadays. Agar-agar mooncakes with different kinds of beans filling. You can see red beans, green beans, corns and also yam. I tried each flavour a piece, and then not feeling like taking another piece. Very "zai".....! Full of santan! I then bought another type with fruits filling instead of beans but haven't tried out. Should be better than this............I try and tell you all, ok?

Expensive Dessert

Can't imagine this little thing costs RM2.90 each found in Queensbay Mall, Penang! Nothing special, and we are taking in colours. Not because of my Zi Wei, crying for it, I really won't buy! Some more, being warned not to snap any photos while taking one! Luckily I manage to snap a picture on it....haha.... :)

It is much softer than custard and it does not taste too sweet. I like the piece of caramelised sugar on top. It is crispy like thin biscuit. My mum loves it. We order each time we visit there, but the portion is too small. Even my girl can finish it off within a second!

Video Captioning

When I was tidying my bedroom few days ago, I saw my wedding VCD laying at the corner of my shelve. Nobody has ever been watching it since five years ago. Feeling to enjoy the happy moment once again, I viewed it for the third time. It is worth memorable and I still can be touched by the joy on that day.

Somehow, I have an idea. Why not I add on some closed captioning in that VCD to tell about the story of my love affair with hubby before marriage. I am thinking of giving it a new look, so that this VCD will be watched again by my family and friends. It will then be no longer staying lonely in my shelve again....LOL.

Desserts That Make You Drool

I have been to Penang for quite a lot of times, and I have been staying there for 3 years during my uni life. Though I don't know of this lovely G Cafe in G Hotel till I received a forwarded email from a friend. This is a place for BBQ Seafood buffet every Friday and Saturday, located next to Gurney Plaza. I found a blog writing about it too. Of course, his was the original. Just want to share some of the pictures of the yummy desserts.

My mum, my kids and I, all have a sweet tooth. When we were gazing at these pictures, we couldn't help drooling that time, thinking of when we may go and have a visit to that place. These desserts look really yummy.....mmm.....That is why I blog about this even I've not been to G Cafe!

Spicy Bali Food

Most of the food in Bali are spicy, like the nyonya style. That's why I eat very less during my tour there. The food is definitely not suitable for kids. Pity my girl who tool only white rice, crackers and soup during her stay in Bali.

Above were called the Tuna fish sate. Spicy too and didn't prove to be tasty. My friend got diarrhea after eating. Maybe she took the raw one.

This is banana britters, the only dessert that kids and I could take. The sweet sauce was like salad sauce, and was yummy to eat together with the bananas. All in all, I don't like the food in Bali.....Too bad. :(

Indonesian Layer Cake

Layer cakes can be found in Malaysia too, but they are sold expensively. When I was in Bali, our tour guide stopped us at the local products shop. Layer cakes, biscuits and other local snacks were sold there. There were some free trial on the snacks too. Our children love the layer cakes. They nearly finished half of the cake! So embarrassing, like hungry children on the street. Maybe they were really very hungry that time because most of the time they could not eat the food in Bali because too spicy. They usually took white rice with some soup. Pity them.....

I bought two layer cakes in whole for my parents and parents-in-law since I like to eat too. Each cost only Rp. 8,000, which was approximately RM32. It was consider cheap, if compared with those sold in Malaysia. Just a packet of 6 pieces here already costs you RM5. I could cut this whole cake into more than 50 pieces!

Seafood And Seaview At Jimbaran, Bali

Our journey continues with our first dinner on 24 Aug, Fri night. We set off to Jimbaran at around 5:45pm. By the time we reached, it was already over 6:15pm. The night started to darken earlier than M'sia even though the time of both countries are the same.




Scenes taken were not so cleared because the environment around was smoky due to the grilled food. Anyway, Jimbaran is a famous place for fresh grilled seafood and seaside view.

The food is too spicy and our children all couldn't take in any of these. Pity the little ones, they just took white rice with some crackers. I couldn't manage to finish my plate because I didn't feel tasty at all, and somemore the seafood was spicy.

I was shocked to see how the Indonesian grilled the seafood! No wonder Shoppingmum and I got sore throat after the dinner that night. I hate to eat this type of food.... :(
