The Nine Gods Festival ~ 11 Oct till 19 Oct

Every year during this special festival, my house area will be crowded with cars and people. This temple, known as Tow Boo Keong is just behind our house. It is the busiest temple whenever The Nine God Festival celebration starts. Most of the people come to take vegetarian food besides praying in the temple. Ooops, forget to show the picture of the "tortoise bao", that's how I call, to you all, but I guess you all may have seen it. That has been our daily snacks since the festival starts till today!

There were so many vegetarian hawkers behind the temple. You can have varieties of choices of food includes rice, noodles, dishes, soup desserts, and mostly the fried stuff.....they are tasty but quite oily to me.

A special snack was sold in the hall of the temple. This "dragon whiskers candy", translation of Mandarin "龙须糖" is known to be the royal snack of the emperor in China.

Have you tried it before? It is something like the cotton candy with peanuts filling inside.

There are other exhibition in the hall besides food. People are selling books and antiques over there.

Look! There were so crowded each night even though it was drizzling the whole day.

Most of the people would go there to pray, take vegetarian food, and enjoy the opera show as the above. There were other temple which had sing and dance performance as well. This has been the usual culture every year to celebrate this festival. Anyway, Tow Boo Keong was the crowded and most popular temple in Ipoh.
